During the multiple decades I survived when I had children at home, the most difficult time was the summer. The only thing worse than a bored child is five bored children.
To avoid the summer doldrums, my wife and I would look for opportunities to get our children involved in activities that would relieve the boredom and keep them from filling their summer days with TV, video games or teasing their siblings.
The Church is well aware of the problem and to help parents, they have created a service opportunity web site that parents can use to match the skill level and time constrains to children and young adults. This can give them an opportunity to do more with their time.
If you see a horizon filled with the constant barrage of: “I’m bored!” please click this link and see if there is an opportunity for your children to get involved.
