Here is an excerpt from Elder J. Jarman’s recent letter home:
We went to the DMV in Jamaica with a Korean member and her disabled husband. The Korean member couldn’t speak English, and her husband was losing his ability to talk. He was white, but served a mission in Korea so he speaks Korean. He was pretty much paralyzed from the neck down, and losing motor and cognitive function. First, we went with this member to pick up her husband from the veterans hospital. When we got there, she started to feed him, and clean up after each bite he took. She was speaking Korean to him the whole time, and he was just looking at her and smiling. But the way that this Korean member treated her husband was so amazing to watch. This woman’s loving commitment to her husband, and his visible appreciation… it was so powerful to watch. It was a Christ-like love, and watching how deep it truly was… I can’t put it into words. But it was like the Savior was in the room.
