Here is a excerpt from Sister E. Moore’s latest letter:
Okay I read a verse in the Book of Mormon this week that I really liked! It’s 2nd Nephi 5:27 and says “27 And it came to pass that we lived after the manner of happiness.” I decided to do some studying on what it meant to live after the manner of happiness. We see many times in the scriptures that when it talks about the people being happy it is because they follow the commandments of God, when you love God and serve him, and when you have hope for the never-ending happiness in the world to come. With our new mission president there have been a lot of changes to the rules that I know are hard for a lot of missionaries, especially the ones that have been here for a while. But I do admit, some of the changes weren’t my favorite. Sometimes we don’t like the rules or we don’t want to live our lives in the way God wants us to. We think we know how we can make ourselves happy and that is by choosing the rules we want to follow. But, I know, and the scriptures testify, that the only way to be truly happy is to follow God’s commandments. It takes humility to realize and accept we’re doing something we shouldn’t be, but as we change our lives will we blessed and we will live “after the manner of happiness” just like the Nephites at that time.
